By Richard Brinsley Sheridan
performed by The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company

West Michigan’s only Shakespearean touring group, The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company, will bring a comedy of manners to The Block. The story about the behavior and customs of upper classes, is told through witty dialogue with comic situations that satirize the malicious gossip and hypocrisy in the fashionable society of London in the 1770s. This Restoration period play was first performed in 1777 in Drury Lane Theatre, London. The performances at The Block are a precursor to the WMS concert in November that will feature the 1931 overture of the same name by composer Samuel Barber.

Also performed on October 10, 7:30 pm.
